Volunteer Opportunities
Title: SKINNER SCHOOL PARENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Description: There are several ways to participate in Skinner activities, such as, through school committees, organizations, volunteering in the classroom, fundraising activities, and school wide activities.


Skinner Forum Parent/Teacher Organization:

The Skinner Forum Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO) was formed in 1994 with a mission to provide both monetary and parent-power/volunteer support to the school. Over the years, Forum has successfully filled the school's funding gap by implementing numerous school activities, outreach efforts and fundraising programs to provide: art/music/drama programs, field trips, classroom supplies, textbooks, school maintenance equipment/supplies, support for various sporting teams and activities, Teacher Appreciation Week, and support for Teacher development.

For more information about Forum, parents can attend monthly meetings hold on the third Tuesday of each month. Parents can also participate in one of Forum's fundraisers and special events/activities which include: Family Fun Night, Holiday Bazaar, Teacher Appreciation Week, Gallery 111-No Art Left Behind, and End-of-the-year Picnic.




Classical Committee:

The Classical Committee, which is a standing committee of the Local School Council, facilitates the social and academic concerns of students, parents and facultyof the Classical program at Mark T. Skinner Classical School. The committee functions by identifying opportunities to enhance the academic experience of the students at Skinner. The Committee also assist in the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan for Advancing Academic Achievement (SIPAAA). The Classical Committee meets monthly for one hour. We altenate our meeting times between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to accomodate the needs and encourage the participation of both staff and parents.
